Just reading the title of this blog post makes my mouth water (even more so as I forcefully have a turkey sandwich). I was at Trader Joe's over the weekend and I while I was going up and down the aisles filled with delicious foods, some in particular caught my eye. I thought "how can I incorporate these foods into one dish?". Then I had a moment where a light bulb turned on in my brain....Pizza! The foods that caught my eye were organic pears, cheeses, fig jam, and salad, specifically arugula. I bought all the ingredients to make the pizza as well as others that I wanted to put on top of the pizza. The kind lady at the cashier asked what I was making since I had many items that necessarily didn't go together - she was intrigued and the look on her face made me wonder if my dinner was going to turn out horrible. But I assure you that the pizza was beyond delicious. I think will have to go back and share these photos with her!
I searched for a similar recipe that I had in mind, which I found, but made some additions/changes to the recipe. I added fontina & gorgonzola cheese instead of provolone, caramelized onions, dollops of fig jam and opted for arugula instead of chives (add the arugula right after the pizza has been cooked). The pizza overall was pretty easy to cook, but the hardest part seemed to be rolling the dough into a perfect circular shape. It turned out to be a semi circle/rectangle! This recipe is perfect to make any day of the week and took 1 hour to cook (prep and cook).
